Now a New England tradition, Ice Weasels Cometh was held yesterday at the White Barn in Wrentham, MA. Part race, part circus side-show, this race never disappoints. JD and I showed up around 11, and the master’s 4 race was underway. We toured the twisty turn-y course and cheered for our favorites and noted the icy turns and rock-hard run-up. I quickly decided I’d rather grill, drink and hang out than race, but this is one of two opportunities for JD to race each year, so he was excited to get kitted up and ride around with a number on his back.
The HUP/Geekhouse tent was in full swing with HupCakes, kielbasa and burgers accumulating in anticipation of hungry hipsters. Beer and cheers erupted at sporadic intervals as the singlespeed riders started coming through the barriers demanding beer and HupCakes.
Competition was fierce, and the beer was gone by 12:30. That’s fierce! Huppers conquered then congregated; Ironic mustaches abounded; chicks re-bounded. Good fun. Good fun.
Big Tom with a HupCake AND beer handup, er stop. . .

Robert, thumb check. Yup got ‘em both.

Chip! Smiling!

JD gets to race, for once. Everyone, EVERYONE heckled him for his kit.

Brant took a HupCake feed.

Ryan Kelly. Blue Steel.

Race promoters aren’t supposed to win money at their own race?!

That’s Lo under all that winter gear.

The Eastern Mass population is infinitely better dressed than the Western Mass usuals.

Now that race season is over, we get to do more of this now. . .Momma likey!
